Working at Boots has allowed me to get to know how to handle healthcare and beauty products and promote them to the diverse variety of customers. Managers and staff were very helpful towards me, because this was my first experience at any kind of job. The most challenging part of the job was learning the titles of the products and what each product does to you. Usually the day would include taking care of the stock, consulting the customers, operating the counter, and making sure everything runs in order.
I have learned how to deal with customers, both new and old. I've also learned new ingredients, and what each of them does to your health and beauty. Working at Boots has also made me develop a strong sense of order, because every product had to be put at exact place for all staff members to know.
It was a work experience which made me realize that I have some new hidden skills that I did not knew I had. It really met my expectations, because I have imagined Boots to have a very fast-paced, self fulfilling environment. I would really recommend people to try our careers there, because they are enjoyable, and the promotion level is quite high.
The managers were really good at doing their job, they had a pleasant and helpful aura around them. Every part timer was valued as well as all the full timers. Dealing with queries and complaints from the customers was easy, because we had a great team, who supported each other. I managed to attract lots of customers, and got extra for doing so.
My working hours and jobs were very well organised. Every staff member was responsible for the whole team as one, so we made less mistakes. Managers really did their job well. I was trained to do my job in no time, and it was made easy by great people.
Managers and team members were really supportive towards me. They were my guides in learning how to deal with the customers, stock, new products and their benefits. Even though sometimes the managers would push you to do more than the pay rate, overall everything was made in perfect order and I really enjoyed it.
The support was enough for me to want to work in a beauty industry. Every time someone made a mistake, the management would give you a lesson on how should I acted and what you should have done at that moment. You could always ask your managers all the questions and they would provide you with answers all the time.
Since I was riding my bicycle to work, I had no travel costs, but Boots wouldn't pay me for me travels, because I was just a normal worker. The location was in the middle of the city centre, so it was easy to access it. The pay rate was pretty low, but it is expected for a newcomers. The only bad thing about it, is that you get unpaid breaks, so if you don't want to take one, they will still take it off of your salary.
We had a lot of great time together with the staff members outside of work, because most of us were very initiative in creating meets. We would even try out our products from time to time on ourselves for a better understanding, but it was also fun thing to do. The managers also gave us lessons on the products (and samples to try it on).
Yes
If you have an interest in health and beauty and trying out all the new products is a goal for you, it is a perfect job to apply. You will learn a lot of new things.
The interview was pretty easy, but the recruiting team tried to get to know every skill that you have to decide if you are going to be valuable to the team. There were some opportunities to get a promotion, but the job would be harder for the same hourly rate. If I were you, I'd prepare my mentality before applying for this job, because some customers could make you crazy. Overall, it is an amazing experience.
