  • My role was a Software Engineer. My task was to debug programs for any faults and to create programs to run with traffic solutions. Also, to take part in SCRUM meetings and to talk to fellow colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed it very much because it gave me independence to do what I wanted to do but also to be guided by staff if I needed help and to solve problems or mistakes independently which was rewarding.

  • They were very helpful from when I first arrived. They gave me a lot of useful information and guided me through the role until I felt confident to do it myself.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was well structured and organised however it felt like the tasks we were assigned to do were created hours in advance so it didn't flow properly. But there was a wide variety of things to do.

  • I got lots of support from them whenever I needed to. They were very well trained and knowledgeable.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They were not around often so we couldn't chat to learn more about the business. The only people around were the training providers.

  • It was work experience so there was no pay involved.

  • Yes, they had a range of activities and placements that you could do as an employee. They understood the leisure time needed for employees.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are very meticulous and organised and for anyone interested in this field it gives a good insight into how they work and the benefits and the challenges. It really changed my view on computer programming.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • Only go for this experience, if you are hard-working and dedicated to do well. You have to be really independent because it will not be given to you on a plate.
