-Adam Spencer - PwC Associate -Daily tasks include: General Tax Compliance i.e. Tax comps/disclosures, Communicating with clients, assisting busy client teams -I have many interactions with different types of people. I have a varied netwrok internally through different levels e.g manager, senior manager and also externally I am beginning to communicate more with clients as part of my client teams. -Responsibilities include preparation of tax compliance documents and also keeping up to date with client admin e.g. compliance deadlines -Every day is different which is great. Every day brings its own challenges and days become particularly busy around deadlines.
-Currently I am studying for a professional qualification - ATT - and this is beginning to help me in my current day to day roles. -PwC offers a varied range of training courses which aids my development massivley. There are many courses throughout the year which we are persuaded to attend. -I have learnt a lot during my first few months here. My technical knowledge is beginning to grow and I am starting to feel more confident with communicating to clients. I am now able to prepare tax comps and disclosures with more confidence and to a more completed status.
I really enjoy my programme. I am part of close team who are always willing to help each other out. The team organises various social events and this always helps to settle people in. It was exactly how I expected. Work levels vary however there is always the right support there when needed.
I feel very valued - I believe that people take into account my age and general level and really appreciate the help I offer. I am involved in a varied range of tasks and have contributed to many different types of projects varying in difficulty. I think that I offer a lot for my position/age.
When I started there was an organised induction where I was introduced to all the other school leavers from other offices. This was a great opportunity to speak to the other joiners and hear their views and opinions on programmes such as these. There are various courses available and studying is helped by support and the supply of lots of different revision materials. There are meetings every week for those of my level to discuss what work we have, helping others more seniors to know who they can delegate to.
My assessor is great help and always provides adequate support when needed. She always gives good answer which help me in the task I am completing. She can usually be contacted by varied means - i.e. sametime, email and phone. She is always very supportive and happy to help, which makes it easy for myself to approach her with all different types of questions.
My people manager is good and is always available for quick questions. My buddy also massively helped my when and before I started as he helped me find accomodation near my office and always heped me in any general 'silly' questions. Support is always there here, if the person you ask doesn't know the question, they always make sure to dfind someone who does.
In all fairness I think the salary is pretty generou for my current status in the world of work. It is a good amount and I always have a good amount left after the monthly costs of rent etc - I don't really have any complaints with regards to this. (PwC varies the salary per location very well)
There are always social events going on in the office, varying from team events, an annual ball, sporting events. I felt this really helped me to settle in when I started and I have always been involved in social events since then.
Yes
-PwC opens up many opportunities for your career. -It is full of clever people who are always their to help your learning. -Offers a very competitive salary -Qualification routes stand you in good stead
-Be yourself and don't try to be someone you're not -In interviews, come across as being enthusiastic and willing to learn, they will love that -In assesssment days, just stay calm. Do the tests as you would in your house and contribute confidently but politely in group tasks. The ones who are very aggressive trying to get their point across in such tasks rarely do well I feel.
