I work as a meter reader reading and doing safety checks on gas and electric meters. Also doing customer appointments making sure everyone is safe in their own homes. Having conversations with customers about their needs and problems and listening on their needs, by trying to help them.
Learned quite a lot since I started now want to train to be an engineer go higher up the ladder so i can provide the really best for my family specially my two year old son.
It started all nice but got really hard want to train myself up the ladder now to be an engineer so i can enjoy my work every day, as the company is not bad only my job got a bit to hard and wages low.
Feeled valued when started my job bit all changed now i feel like meter readers are not so valued as used to be. Now they value the engineer who can fit smart meter as everything is smart now
The company thinks they organising everything well but seems like everything gets worse and worse day to day in my job role anyway. They concentrate on the engineers at the moment.
Training was not to good and they still run over it. Don't get much support as don't really need it and they are always busy anyway with something else all the time so....
There's not much of appreciation at all I would say all they care is to protect themselves and for as not to do anything stupid and work for smallest amount of money and do as much as possible
Not to well anymore it used to be really good with bonuses but they cut everything now all we get is a base salary which compared to what we have to do is quite a small amount of money so not really happy
Yes if you want to find a job you really can you just need to put yourself to it. You can achieve if you're hard working and do your job properly anything is possible if you want it to happen.
Yes
There are better areas in company like meter fitter engineers work where you work less and earn much more and valued more by company and cutomers as well as you do not have to knock on their doors at 8 o'clock in the morning waking them up etc
Look for work but best to apply for an engineer position fitting meter as currently this is the best earning position and valued by company. You do what you can and nobody can tell you why you didn't do more as it takes time to do your job properly in this role ...
