  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I shadowed a member of the Tax team for the most part with daily virtual learning sessions and completed work given to me by the team. I also presented on a topic of my choice (the controversies surrounding VAT)

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed presenting skills, business writing skills and excel skills. This was through interactive courses and through my presentation.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Really enjoyed it, my team were really welcoming and I learned a lot.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • Due to the complicated nature of their work, there is not too much value I could add but I feel they tried to challenge me and give me work.

    8/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Reasonably so, lots of time spent with our 'Buddy' so our time was often dependent on how proactive they were, luckily mine were.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • A good amount, I felt like I could email them if I had any queries.

    8/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots, I felt like they wanted me to succeed. As I was only here 5 days, I had limited access to senior people and had little need for support.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Living an hour and a half away made my commute expensive (£22 a day). Unsure if costs reimbursed but assuming not then not well at all.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Went to lunches with the team but (due to anti-slavery laws and time constraints) could not participate much outside of 9:30-4:30

    5/10

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Everyone I met was friendly and had a similar work ethic to me, it was not what I expected from such a massive company but I know my friends would love it as much as me.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Be specific as possible about why EY. Do lots of research.
