The program was called the EY Business Academy. At the start of the week we were introduced to members of the EY team which included our buddies and counselors who made it clear that if we had any questions over the week to go to them. throughout the week we had our own desks and laptops which helped us complete during the week. our main task was to complete a power point presentation on one of EY's clients which we would present to managers at the end of the week. we got the chance to work with current employees working on our assigned client which was a good insight to processes used at EY. overall an amazing experience.
I developed skills such as how to use excel and other technological processes. I learnt auditing content that I had not previously come across before the week.
The program was very interactive and challenging and all EY staff were very supportive and welcoming. Enjoyed the experience and would recommend.
Throughout the week I felt included and that my work was appreciated as we were given responsibility over our own tasks as well as our own passes and tokens to print as well as our own laptops and desks.
We were given timetables at the start of the week along with calendars on our emails in case any meetings or task were set.
We teamed up with buddies and counselors who supported us during the week. I was also introduced to other staff who offered help on my presentation.
Emails were sent every day during the week by the student recruitment team to summarize anything we might be unsure of.
three out of the five days we were with EY lunch was paid for whether that be eating at restaurant on in client suites. we were paid for the week at a rate of £5.50/hour. travel and stay to the location was not paid for.
Outside of work I visited tourists sites within Edinburgh as it was my first time in Edinburgh but this was separate from the company.
Yes
You learn so much content and it is all specific to EY and it is nothing like typical work experience- in a good way.
Make as many networking connections you can. Ask any question on your mind- they do not expect you know everything as the whole point is that it is a learning experience
