I am a higher apprentice in VAT in PwC in London. My daily tasks include VAT registrations, VAT returns and advisory work. Advisory is the favourite part of my job however it is very broad. I normally liaise with HMRC and clients on a frequent basis. My team is relatively small consisting of three directors, two senior managers, and a handful of managers and associates.
Yes. I am currently undergoing my ATT which mean I have gained a lot of technical knowledge into income and capital gains tax. I am doing training for VAT and this is very useful as VAT is very complex. I have also built up my soft skills such as presentations and experiencing client meetings. Overall the experience has been amazing and diverse.
Work is very diverse and I really enjoy this. My team is also very diverse, I am the only apprentice and we all come from different backgrounds. The team has really built up a fantastic relationship with each other. Company culture is very supportive of your development and the reward makes you feel wanted by the company. The programme has exceeded my expectations as everyone has been very nice and the work has been very interesting. I even enjoy my qualifications because the material is relevant and very interesting. I thoroughly enjoy the programme and cannot wait to complete my ATT!
Very valued, the constant feedback environment means that you are extremely well supported at PwC. My team appreciate the work and effort I will do to effectively meet the deadlines. I have been recognised with this as I have been given a £100 voucher for my hard work. I am always involved with tasks and projects and this is fantastic for me as I am a really enthusiastic individual. I feel very valued.
Very well. I did not have an induction because I joined later due to extenating circumstances. It is structured very well so far. There are still some teething issues however we are putting together an apprencticeship commitee to address these.
I have a lot of support from my tutor who is always there if I have extra questions. There is plenty of training provided and externally I have a lot of support from college with my exams.
I have a lot of support from my team. The HR team answers all my queries. There is plenty of training provided and externally I have a lot of support from college with my exams.
It meets all my costs and I am able to save a little bit extra! The renumeration is very fair when you also take into account recognition.
There are many such as going to company events to present outside the office, helping out with the community, a good social enviornment.
Yes
A fantastic place to start your career, the experience will be absolutely invaluable!
The application process and interviews are very xtensive so I would expect others to really give the process its full attention and to also practice before the tests and interviews come, well in advance. There are so many opportunities in PwC and the experience is some of the best you can get in the job market. The only thing I would have liked to been told about is what team I was going to join and also the diploma, as I did not know I had to do this before I joined.
