As a junior apprentice, I was shipped off to various location, eg auditing a client who specialised in eye care. (That was Monday). Tuesday was set in the Gatwick base office, from which, the staff taught us the essentials Tax, and we got to meet department directors who discussed the next steps and alternative opportunities. The last day, is a group project and presentation.
I have developed my 'whole leadership'. I.e. communication (networking), business and technical abilities (excel).
It's great to meet both qualified professionals -who really know their stuff-, and accountants in training -who have recent experiences. The staff were really welcoming and actually made work, fun!
Very. There's huge support network available, and loads of resources are provided for instance laptops loaned out for the whole week. If you like you could email almost anybody in the entire business with questions.
Each day is dictated by a new and exciting task to engage with, from client based internship style activities to internal education (but more interesting than school of course).
You are provided a 'buddy' who takes you through the motions from an introduction to the office, to giving us tasks and helping us complete them.
Again laptops are provided, and detailed plans will keep you constantly entertained.
All travel fares are fully reimbursed (you have to request it) and you will earn standard minimum wage for your area, which totals roughly £300.
A bit like student union, PwC offers funds for employees to organise large scale activities that should incorporate entire bases. This is organised by employee representatives themselves.
Yes
For all the reason already explained. PwC has fantastic working environment that caters to your specific needs. Allegedly, other firms tend to be more 'cut throat' in their relationship between the Hierarchy and the actual workers. PwC is more supportive.
Ask lots of questions and take lots of notes. Make a good impression as they'll likely offer you a placement afterwards. Be relaxed but also hardworking. Make the most of it and have fun!!
