i worked in consultancy for 3 days of my insight week. Daily tasks included completing work in excel, creating powerpoint & preparing for a project. From time to time there was participation in meetings with people higher up in the company sharing what they do and how they joined the company.
throughout the business insight week i would say i have developed my skills a lot. To be specific i would say my technical skills such as using excel to complete work, looking at graphs and reading data. I also developed on my networking skills due to meeting a number of new people and approaching to talk first with them.
I really enjoyed my time during the PwC business insight week. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. There was not a time where you would feel lost due to the support of the buddies as well as other individuals at the business. Providing a clear response and not pressuring anyone towards a deadline of anything, i would say my experience with PwC was great. You get the chance to find out about more then one role in your chosen line of service which gives you a good insight in the business.
I feel valued by everyone i met at PwC. The company itself offering students a chance to work in a place like this just shows how much they consider young individuals in the business, with a number of programs also available aiming at people just at the age of 18.
The program has a good structure as there is a timetable made beforehand showcasing what will be done each day. Therefore you've never got a day where there is nothing to be done. Also you get given a specific time for a web-ex each day on which will appear on your calendar.
My training provider was always sitting next to me and constantly asking me if i have any questions or need a drink. They were very helpful and provide you with their contact number and email if you ever need help outside business hours or even help with application process. Also if your training provider had come through a programme you are interested in, then you can directly receive help.
All other members of the organisation are also very helpful. They would take their own time out to set up mini meetings on describing their role and useful tips when applying. They would be 100% honest with you at all times and very friendly. So it was a positive experience to know that everyone could help you.
Pwc will cover all your transport costs as long as a receipt is kept to show proof. This is great as it can be quite costly, travelling at peak times. Also the pay rate is very generous, especially if you are working in a london office as the cost of living is known to be higher. Lunch is provided for free on the first and last day but there is many local shops where food and be bought at a reasonable price.
Yes, if you become a PwC employer in the future. There is a selected day where you can go and do charity work or helping locally in the community. This is always good to do as you could also include it on your Cv but feel good at the same time as you have participated in voluntary work.
Yes
Its a great insight into some future opportunities for young individuals whether your looking to go straight into work or have further education and receiving a after. The work experience helps you understand the role much more and has made me decide on what i may choose as a career path in the future.
The tips and advice i would give to anyone who may be applying to the business insight week is to just be yourself. I didnt do hours of preparation or stress myself out. Practise is key to pass the tests but interview should just be relaxed.
