I worked in Assurance at PwC in Uxbridge. This involved learning about PwC by asking employees questions and experiencing the friendly culture first hand. I was responsible for several audit jobs, including testing unrecorded liabilities. Thus, I helped my buddies audit 3 big clients and increased my knowledge of Microsoft Excel. I also spent a day at a client site, which was helped me gain an insight into the interactions between a big accountancy firm and its clients. Outside of Uxbridge, in the More London PwC office, I attended several insightful presentations on PwC itself and on topics such as presentation skills. I also attended several online audio conferences, which furthered my knowledge of the emerging technology and how to become more employable. On my final day, I worked on a project, which involved making a presentation, with 6 other interns, on the impact of technology on education in the future.
- greater proficiency with Excel - improved presentation skills - networking skills - employability skills - more confidence
Hugely as I learnt so much.
All the staff were friendly, considerate and willing to talk to me if I had questions.
well organised but not excessively strict (my buddies were all very considerate) = perfect!
a lot as the employees always answered my queries
well
yes, going to a client site
Yes
It was enjoyable and insightful.
Don't wear a suit and tie - there really is no need, unless you're specifically instructed to. It's business casual! Brush up on your Excel skills beforehand - this should make the work much easier.
