working in the Barclays help desk was a very good work placement it involves you getting there at 9:00 and talking to customers and helping them out with the problems this may include them wanting to open up a new bank account or them having money stolen from their account, this jobs has many responsibilities the main one being to help the customer, you have lots of interaction with people inside and outside of the workplace.
in this job you learn and develop many skills including customer service skills which is learnt or developed massively you also learn it skills and how to really engage with customers, your communication skills are also improved massively the main skill which you learn during this job is problem solving skills which is developed a lot further than most jobs will develop it
On the technical side of the house the climate is more relaxed. Everyone has a job to do and just does it. Micro-managing does not exist. Ninety nine percent of the employees are great people who are willing to help and assist you and their other fellow workers to get the job done.you learn lots of new skills and make friends while doing it. i enjoyed this job hugely and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to work there
you feel very valued by Barclays and they make you feel like one of them within the first half an hour, they give you free coffee and will do what ever they can to keep you there, they really make you feel welcomed into the job and it is much enjoyed.
Barclays is very organised with their work experience and i am assuming with their apprenticeships as well they where always on time on every occasion bar 1 where they were 5 minutes late but other than that they had a desk ready for me before i even got there, you are given a plan from the get go of where and when you need to go. overall very organised.
in training you have a tutor who shows you how to do everything, shows you many different scenarios and teaches you each and every one of the necessary skills needed for the job, if you have any problems the are happy to answer any one of your questions about the job or position
you have someone with you, talking you through every thing for the first few weeks and after that if you need any help 99% of people will be happy to help you out, if there is nobody (unlikely) you can ask you manager and they will happily tell you everything you need to know about the problem
the salary isn't huge to start of with, about 15 to 20 thousand however this is plenty for me, a student that lives alone in a small house which costs 400 a month and it costs about £10 in petrol a day to get to work, overall the sallery is good for starting out and for a student. it also gets a lot better pay once you are promoted.
this job offers many other opportunities in similar jobs and will help you do so, any job including customer management will be much easier to get if you have worked here previously, i found it much easier to get an IT helpline job later on after working here as they already know your used to it.
Yes
i recommend Barclays as a work placement as they are very well organised, you will be very welcomed by every one, you get good starting pay, every one is willing and happy to help you with any problem you have, and it's just fun and sociable job theat does not need much experience prior to the job
for this job you definitely cant be shy and have to be able to talk to customers, even angry ones and keep your cool so you must have a good temper, you cant get angry at the customers else you will be very told off possibly even fired. don't think your going to be paid a huge amount because your not
