The first day involved an introduction to PwC and the various areas of the business. Following this was 3 days of shadowing various people in assurance (working on auditing). In my first day of shadowing, I was working on the planning stage of the audit. I reviewed various spreadsheets and documents, formatting them so they are suitable to send to the client. I got to familiarise myself with a balance sheet and income statement. On the second day I found out what the final stages of the audit involves. I understood the use of the software PwC uses e.g. auror and envoy, where I requested documents from the DC and began a notes tie out. The third day of shadowing was at a client site where I could experience the team requesting documents from the clients directly.
I have developed skills in excel and using the various software PwC uses, as well as networking and communication skills.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and culture of the office. Everyone was very friendly and open and was more than willing to take any questions that I had. It was a lot more sociable than I expected which was a nice surprise.
I felt very involved on some of the days of shadowing. My buddy expressed that he was very impressed by the quality and speed of my work as well as my determination to complete tasks.
The structure was good; I liked that there were multiple days of shadowing as it provided a wider insight. However there could have been more tasks available for me to complete during this time.
I received a lot of support from my buddy and they were very happy to help with any concerns or queries that I had.
PwC was very helpful and informative regarding the programme and was also willing to address any problems or issues.
The salary was very generous and was more than enough to cover costs, especially considering travel is reimbursed.
Leading on from the programme, there is a lot of possibilities to continue your experience at PwC which is very good and helpful.

As the largest professional services firm in the UK, the PwC insight week was very informative and a useful experience.
Make sure you do a lot of research before your telephone interview so you are prepared and show the interviewer that you know a lot about the company and that you know what you are going into.
