Work experience student, participating in various tasks in different departments with an insight into life as a trainee solicitor at the firm. Conducted a mock employment tribunal which was very useful to gain experience, and was given paperwork responsibilities for clients.
I have learned that a career in commercial law is high work high reward, and the working environment of Pinsent masons would be highly motivating to be a part of. I learned how to properly present myself in a firm of this size, while still feeling like a valued member of the team.
I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the programme. the teams in every department were friendly and approachable, delegating responsibilities and putting their trust in me to complete tasks while offering their help along the way. The programme exceeded my expectations, and I have really enjoyed this week.
I feel very valued, the two departments I worked in were quick to delegate tasks, with various members of teams giving me praise and advice for each task. Every member of staff goes above and beyond to make sure we have a worthwhile experience and I am grateful to them for that.
Very well organised, our plan for each day was set out at the start of the week with a timetable. Each meeting or workshop was emailed to us and added to a worktop calendar so we would not miss any of them. Time was put in place to organise for tasks such as the mock employment tribunal, with trainee solicitors talking us through our roles.
Multiple classes were held regarding routes into law, daily work of a commercial lawyer, CV preparation and even interview skills. these were all very useful and will aid me greatly in the working world.
The HR manager Gill greeted us on the first day and immediately made us feel welcome, the trainee solicitors from our departments helped us every day with any tasks we were given, and the associates and partners in each department were very quick to offer career advice as well as carry out tasks with us.
N/A however based on information I have obtained staff are very well paid and costs for things like The Institute are covered during your training years.
Not available to me during my work experience programme due to the programme being only 1 week. However based on what I have seen I will say the staff opportunities seem second to none.
Yes
It has been a fantastic place to gain my experience, and seems like a brilliant place to work full time.
Do not hold back in your application, Pinsent Masons staff are innovative and very friendly people, the firm values sociable people who will work well in their team.
