  • E&I Apprentice Carrying out theory and practical tasks according to the apprenticeship programme and to a high standard. Cooperating with my colleagues and other national grid employees. Driving a company van to and from site and representing national grids company image. Be on time and prepared for work with the correct equipment and PPE

  • Carried out various engineering and electrical qualifications e.g. PEO, PAT Testing etc. As well as personal skills such as communication, teamwork and the like.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the work is interesting and challenging while on site the theory side can be tedious but it is needed to pass the course

  • we are recognised as the future of national grid

  • Some courses can be layed out in a illogical way but i understand the time constraints affect this

  • support from tutors and mentors is really good.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I can sometimes find it hard to access support via the infonet or sharepoint. Programme manager can be hard to get hold of sometimes Line manager is always there if i need help via phone/text/email etc.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Good starting wage and benefits package

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are some events but i dont feel many of them are solely aimed at the apprentices.

  • Yes

  • Very good company feel and outstanding opportunities

  • Try your best during the application and interview stage, sell yourself.
