During this work experience, I spent 3 weeks as a smart futures intern. 2 of these weeks at EY was spent developing my skills as a team leader along with communication and presentation skills. The last week was spent having a live business experience and taking on proper EY tasks.
I have developed a range of my existing skills such as my communication skills and developing my confidence. I believe I am now able to present in front of my peers confidently. I have also learnt how to present in a professional manner. I have also been able to develop my knowledge of the workplace.
I have enjoyed this program very much as I have met and made friends with a range of new people. Along with this, I have learnt how to work efficiently in a team and delegate work equally and according to strength. In conclusion, thoroughly enjoyed this program. I have also enjoyed the type of work we were given as it was challenging and required a lot of thought.
I feel valued by EY as they constantly rewarded us and made us all feel equally appreciated. I also felt valued after the presentation after business experience as my team were given inspirational advice. My team were also rewarded for the dragons den pitch.
This program was very structured and well organized as they also provided us with mentors who have not failed to contact us. Along with this, we were also able to go on professional visits which gave us a broader insight. The two weeks of team building which was led by the providers helped us to prepare for the business experience. This made sure we were well equipped.
I have received a lot of support from my training provider as I felt comfortable to talk to both of them about any of my worries and they made our cohort feel welcome. This support was also seen through the speed at which they replied to emails which made me feel safe and looked after, especially during business experience.
I received a good amount of support from my employer as she taught us about her department and motivated us to keep going especially when we found some of the work hard. My employer also paid for our transport to the supplier and so we were able to save money. Along with this, our employer introduced us to other members of the department so that we felt welcome into the department.
The salary was really useful as I was able to pay for my travel costs and buy a very nice lunch. I was also able to buy some new stationary for school so the salary helped me to feel fulfilled and made me feel like an actual employee. I earned bonus money in a way because during the business experience, the more London place office was very close to where I live so i did not have to spend a lot of money on travel.
I am not sure if there are many social opportunities outside of work as when I got home from work, I would just go to sleep as I was exhausted from the working life. The most I did after work was talk on the EY groupchat which was created and brought the group together
Yes
I would recommend EY to a friend because it is extremely beneficial as it provides people with the experience of actually being an employee at EY. The activities automatically challenge the people and help to develop confidence as there is no way but to overcome the challenge. The salary also is a bonus and adds to the experience of being a city employee, along with the resources
I would tell other people applying to EY to keep an open mind as anything can happen and you will be able to meet different people from different cultures. Also, you should not feel intimidated when trying challenging tasks as you will be able to overcome the tasks. Most importantly, have fun!
