My job title is audit assistant. Day to day tasks include a wide variety of audit work, working on sections such as cash, fixed assets, overheads, payroll, share capital. I have daily interactions with my colleagues and members of the clients financial team. I am responsible for the sections that are assigned to me, to ensure that the sections are finished before the close of the job.
I have learnt many new skills, mainly from the qualification that I am undetaking. I am firstly undertaking the CFAB qualification and then the ACCA exams.
I enjoy my programme very much. All members of the team that I have worked for are extremely friendly and helpful. BDO are normally a very easy company to work for, providing support.
I feel very valued by BDO, as I often receive lots of very positive feedback from managers and seniors alike. This shows as I am now given more responsibility within jobs to complete more sections, some of which can be quite complicated.
The exam and college side of my course is very well organised, with plenty of time being given to the trainees before the exam in order to prepare. The support sessions are also quite well run as I meet with my assesor every 3 months. The coursework side of my qualification is not as well run, with the deadlines often changing.
I meet with my assesor every 3 months which provides great support.
My employer is very supportive, especially my counselling manager. With any issues that I have, my counselling manager will always be able to provide me with an answer, and also provides good feedback as to how I am progressing at my appraisal meetings.
This meets my costs very well and I always have money to spend. If travel is not planned well with an rail pass this can sometimes be expensive due to the travelling nature of the job.
There are many oppurtunities outside of work such as football, rugby and cricket teams. We are also allowed to have 10 days off year in order to partake in community service.

A strong qualification is gained at the end of the job, along with earning money during the training contract.
Ensure that for interviews, you understand what is going to be asked of yourself, as planning your answers makes this a much easier process. Research the company and ensure that you understand the role that you are applying for.
