I work in Business Recovery Services within the Deals division of Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC). I work mostly with corporate insolvencies. Daily this involves juggling a portfolio of cases at various stages in the insolvency process. I work with senior people and assist with the daily duties such as writing to creditors, shareholders and other interested parties. I also do basic accounting for the companies, and pay invoices, fees etc that may be due. I also help with investigation with which can get pretty interesting.
Yes, lots of accountancy skills, alot about the law (particularly with insolvency and restructuring) and many skills about negotiation and handling people who may be upset or angry if they are owed money.
I like my day to day job, but as a graduate in the HA, I feel that alot of the Diploma, which is fantastic to school leavers, is a little time-consuming.
Very much, people are incredibly important to PwC and that's not just a "thing" they say to people externally. We are all encouraged to develop and learn.
Very well organised, we have a fantastic infrastructure at PwC and there are many people looking after our programme.
Lots, again. Our professional qualification is dealt with by PQ (Professional Qualifications), and our Diploma by the Higher Apprenticeship team which is dedicated to help us.
PwC was instrumental in developing the HA so they are incredibly supportive, and encouraging.
As a graduate on an apprenticeship, I feel I could be on a slightly higher salary. However if I was on this salary as a school leaver I would be very happy!
Yes, we have a huge number of things we can get involved in day to day outside of our working lives.
Yes
I have interned and worked for world-class companies before I joined PwC - and this is the best place I've worked by a long shot.
Be confident, be proactive and pay attention to the details in your application. Apply!
