I am a craft apprentice so this means that I work on the shop floor with the tools and jobs. Every three months I will swap placements which means I will end up working in a different section of the workplace every three months. Each day I carry out different tasks in each section to complete various goals and learn new skill sets.
I have learnt new skills that I must require for my job role whilst working on the shop floor and also whilst I carried out my training in the first 3 months of working here.
I really enjoy the programme, we all work as a team to get the job done and it is a lovely place to work. you can always go to someone for help if you need it and each team leader is very happy to help with any queries or problems we have.
I feel very valued here at MBDA. they have lots of training courses to help extend the apprentices skills and we are given tasks which the qualified workers may have which shows us they have lots of trust with us and they make sure we are always given interesting job roles within each section.
Our programme at the start wasn't well organised but this was because we had just gotten a new manager and she doesn't work on our site she works on another site but if we had any problems she fixed them straight away and made sure we had something to do at all times. Now that we have settled in more and she has, it is a well thought out programme and we all enjoy ourselves and like working within the company as there is a lot of trust and help from either side.
Our training provider is very supportive, every 6-8 weeks someone from the training centre will come out and have a review with us and if we have any problems with anything they are always quick to sort out the problem, etc.
We receive a lot of support from our employer. Our manager is always happy to help us and point us in the right direction if they cannot answer our questions.
As apprentices you don't really get paid much in other industries/companies but here at MBDA I think the pay is fair as we are treated and paid like adults, we also get annually pay rises dependant on how well we are working within the business and our college.
If you are someone who tries really hard and gets involved with the job then you get opportunities to go and do really interesting jobs, for example, one of the graduates here on her first couple of months was doing really well and she got the chance to go and do some networking away in another country for a couple of months.
Yes
MBDA is an amazing company to work for and as an employee I am very happy with the standard of working and training we are given here.
For someone who decides they are going to apply to work at our company I would say to be yourself, be kind and make sure that you are willing to put your all into working here as you will be rewarded for your efforts and you will get the chance to take on amazing opportunities that you wouldn't in an other every day job.
