My job title is finance administrator and my daily tasks include: updating our excel files, sending out reports, sorting invoices, and other general admin tasks. I have deadlines for completing and sending reports and ensuring everything is accurate. I have been involved with a cost saving project which I found interesting.
I have completed a bespoke Excel course on which I learnt excel functions based on my existing knowledge. My communication skills have improved as I am required to email and telephone people regularly. As I have to reach deadlines, I also feel my timekeeping skills have improved along with organization.
I very much enjoyed my apprenticeship. My colleagues, manager and mentor are all very supportive, they have all been extremely helpful and approachable from the start. My workload increased as I improved my skills and I've had enough challenges to keep me motivated and test my skills. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the apprenticeship but I was definitely happy with the experience.
My manager is very supportive and always congratulates any achievements, she has been so supportive and has made me feel very valued by the team and the company as a whole. I received a lot of internal recognition when I completed my apprenticeship and it was great that people outside of my department were congratulatory as well. I was included in various tasks and projects that really helped me feel part of a bigger team.
I felt that the apprenticeship was very well organised. I received the same induction as normal staff, I got one-on-one training for what became my daily tasks, as well as support when I began doing tasks on my own. I was allowed to dedicate time each week to studying and the team were very supportive of this, offering me help when I needed it, etc. I had regular meetings with my mentor, which became less regular as time went on and I gained a better understanding of my work.
My course tutor visited me every month throughout my apprenticeship, however could've been more supportive in my work. She was approachable and I could ask any questions I had, but I don't feel her feedback was constructive and I think she could've been more helpful with the coursework. The college itself had a website with useful study tools that I had access to and I found this really helpful.
My manager has been very supportive from the start and has been considerate when it came to college work and getting the hang of my daily tasks. She has always offered support for all aspects of my job and apprenticeship. The HR team are really approachable and helpful. If I ever have any problems I know there are lots of people I can go to for support and guidance.
Tulip pay apprentices quite well, and I found that as an apprentice I was treated fairly when it comes to pay/salary and they did not just pay the minimum apprentice wage. They also cover any other expenses, such as travelling for visits to other sites, courses at another location, conferences or meetings, etc.
The company host various events throughout the year, such as a summer "party", Christmas meals and daytime activities. They also work with a local school, on things such as art projects, work experience, and more. Outside of work there are various leisure activities and “clubs” to join, like football or swimming.
Yes
It's a really great company to work for, everyone is supportive and approachable. The company are eager for everyone to develop their skills and give any ideas on improvements for the business. There are lots of different opportunities within the company all over the country. They’re very supportive, they always encourage development both personally and professionally.
I would tell anybody that is applying to Tulip to just work hard and be themselves. The company really appreciates hard work and it will also make them a more likely candidate for promotions in the future, it also shows the person is dedicated and committed to the job. They should always put ideas or suggestions forward to the relevant people as they can really make a difference, whilst also showing what a good member of staff they are.
