As an apprentice I spent a period of time in different departments at head office. Theses included; credit control, purchase ledger, purchasing, reception and management accounts. Management accounts was were my apprenticeship finished and I was offered a permanent role.
I have learnt many new skills at my time in Tulip, here are just a few; Brilliant excel skills, presentation skills, communication and I am now studying ACCA to become a qualified charted accountant.
I really enjoyed the apprenticeship programme, it really gave me a idea of what career I wanted to follow. Everyone is helpful and it is great to be part of a good, fun, hard working team.
Whilst on my apprenticeship programme I had 6 weekly reviews with my manager and HR. This highlighted everything I had achieved and where I needed to develop. If objectives were met, I was rewarded a pay increase. This really made me feel valued as I was a chance to look back on everything I had learnt and achieved. As an apprentice, you are usually the first point of call to help with new tasks.
Very well structured with my tutor from college coming in to see me regularly and review meetings every 6 weeks.
College tutors are brilliant, the come and meet you regularly and are always at the end of a phone/e-mail for any advice or guidance.
The HR team and line managers support you all the way.
Salary isn't high to start with, but I had increases every 6 weeks if I met all the objectives set in may last review meeting so it soon increases. But remember you are saving a huge amount of money on uni fees!
Tulip are always offering charity events, My tulip awards which offers discount on many big retailers, Christmas parties and events within work hours to raise money for local charities.
Yes
Everyone is helpful and friendly. You spend most of your time at work, so I believe one of the most important things is that you have a good team around you.
Remember a interview is not just for the employer to question you, it is also an opportunity for you to ask questions so get as much out of it as possible!
