My job title is a customer service partner, this means I help fix peoples computers and am on a helpdesk where people can ring and ask for assistance. We also have admin duties along with being on the helpdesk, this included creating new user profiles, new SAP accounts and giving people access to specific network locations. We also have to run daily scripts for finding user accounts that need deactivating, removing and giving office licences to accounts etc. We are currently involved in a migration project which means we are migrating all our machines to align with our parent company.
I have learnt so much in this past year regarding IT. I have nearly got my level 2 diploma and now have an understanding in general IT infrastructure. I have also learnt about how to conduct myself in a day to day working environment and how to keep calm when dealing with hard issues.
i really enjoy this, my team are amazing, it exceeded my expectations, as you are treated as one of the team and not just the 'apprentice' you are treated as an equal. I think this helps because it ensures you get stuck in to trickier issues earlier on so this gets you asking questions quicker.
I would say people do value me at tulip. Especially at my site as i try to help as soon an possible with their issues. I also have to help with meetings in the boardroom ensuring the it equipment is working properly and help fix problems with the senior management team to ensure theyre all up and running.
good structure, had an induction when i started, received training from country manager, support from whole team, college has been a little unorganized as my tutor left but im sure it will be all okay. Meetings and reviews are frequent so you can see how youre getting on
Tutor was very supportive, but he left the company we were working with, support is very accessible internally, i do enjoy my training both internally and externally. General attitude towards support is good throughout the business, people are always willing to help if you need it.
Country manager is very supportive, always makes time for us to go through our issues with him, HR team are also supportive, make sure we know their door is always open. guidance and general attitude are amazing from my mentor and team. Being given a mentor to help with the role has been a real game changer. someone you can go to with just general problems is really helpful in working life.
Cost does slowly increase, abit hard with the living costs in the area that i am from because when youre trying to save for a house and get a mortgage its hard on apprentice wage, but they are putting money into your education so its a tricky one. I hope it goes up a bit more when i continue to my level 3.
Not too many, more internally, we do have a reward scheme and a cycle to work scheme though. We get money off Gym memberships and retailers when we are shopping, we can also get cash back on lots of purchases as we supply alot of customers. When im not working i am very interested in cars so i just do things related to that outside of work.
Yes
Because its a good place to work for, higher management is amazing! Very supportive atmosphere and does teach you alot about working life in general. Big company so there are lots of opportunities within. I hope to progress in my carer and id say tulip can help me with that.
DO IT The people who interview you are lovely, the general day to day work and people are good, I would have liked to have been told that its okay to know very little about the job role when you start because you will learn very quickly.
