  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role differs from day to day and I always have a wide range of responsibilities. Sometimes I am involved in secretarial tasks such as creating and sending letters to creditors and distributing mail. I often have the chance to speak with clients and help then with personal issues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained a plethora of new skills. I have developed my confidence and people skills by talking to new clients everyday and having to come up with answers and advice on the spot. I have also started my AAT level 3 exams and am working towards this qualification.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have settled in surprisingly well at KPMG despite coming from a school environment straight to a working environment. I love that I am always learning and always have the opportunity to try new things.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • I see that the work I complete has a direct impact on the cases that my team are working on. This responsibility makes me feel valued. I am always given feedback and am made aware if I need to do something again. I have to make sure that my work and input is done the correct way and for this reason I know I have a purpose. I also have no hesitation asking questions - everyone is more than happy to help.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very structured but not so much that I do not have my own say. Since my programme is rotational - I have the option of where I would like I would like to work for my future placements.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have monthly meeting with a representative from my training provider and also have regular phone calls. I am aware of who I can contact and how to do so if I ever had a problem.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am given all the help I need but I am encouraged to be independent so that I learn how to do things the correct way. However, if I ever have a problem or query I am confident in where to go for help

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Personally, I feel that my salary is excellent for a school leaver. my travel costs are expensive, but KPMG offers to reimburse me for my railcard.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • we each receive 6 days volunteering time a year and I have taken advantage of this to volunteer at the national autistic society. However, I feel there is a lack of sports clubs, or I don't know how to get involved. I would like to see an opportunity for sport within work.

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It gives you the opportunity to learn both academically through exams and within the workplace. You can gain a qualification and a successful career while earning right from the word go.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • It's not all about the qualifications you have on paper- it's about who you are as a person, your personal achievements and your ability to stay committed and try your best!
