I am currently rotating through Audit at the moment. Daily tasks include assisting in an array of Audit duties like Casting Accounts and reviewing minutes. I often get to meet many people outwith the business in varying roles.
My attention to detail has definitely sharpened. Especially when casting account. Also, my confidence and presenting skills have improved dramatically. I feel more of an extrovert since I started this apprenticeship.
I enjoy my work very much so. I have a diverse team whom I get along with well. There are plenty of opportunities outside of work to build relationships with my team as well as plenty within the organisation. The company culture is professional but can be very informal/friendly at some points too.
I feel valued to an extent. As an apprentice I do feel like "only a number" and at the bottom of the hierarchy. However, this is due to the vast size of the organisation and teams within. It is also expected when you are a low grade employee at any firm.
Extremely structured. all my placements are diarised well in advance as well as exams and tuition. Notice is always given too. Work is filtered between employees very well and KPMG utilise their employees very well.
A lot. there is wealth of training support on our learning platform as well as course material for your tuition. There is a support team whom we are able to contact too if we have queries. However, I personally don't enjoy Virtual Classrooms but that is due to personal preference.
an incredible amount. The KPMG360 are very supportive and always have the apprentices in their best interest. They also good above and beyond to make sure you are happy at work.
For an apprenticeship I cannot complain broadly about the salary. However, as my monthly train ticket is very expensive I can complain about that. It would be great if there was relief/compensation for those who travel further.
There is a plethora of extra-employment opportunities. For example, pantomimes, social events and nights away. I played 5 a side football with my team too which was very enjoyable.
Yes
It is an incredible opportunity to learn and earn. it is a great firm to have on your CV as well. The perks and benefits are tremendous and they are very much so an employee first firm. I would recommend this apprenticeship over university every day of the week.
My one and only yip would be to present each and every one of the behavioural capabilities at all points of the application process.
