My day consists of working now independently as I’m nearing the end of my apprenticeship and carrying out tasks by reading drawings and working things out for myself, always asking for advice if needed.
I’ve learned how to carry out majority of work in the electrical installation industry from knowing very little prior to starting my apprenticeship
I enjoy it very much as I have became friends with my work colleagues and enjoy coming to work. It’s good as everyone can have a laugh whilst progressing with work.
I feel valued under my engineer and supervisor as I am trusted to undergo tasks that they would not trust others to do.
It is organised to a good standard but there could be improvement in communication as to what stage I are at and what you have actually learned and still need to work on.
Receive a lot of help as we have refreshed days at college etc in order to refresh skills that might not be every day ones and not done regularly before coming up to my trade test
Recieve a lot of help as my apprentice mentor previously used to work with my branch as an electrician so knows all about the industry and what I need to do to improve
For my age it is a good salary and I enjoy myself outside of work and can do many things that I want to do. More money would always be an incentive.

It is a great company to work for and you have very many employee benefits which attract you to work for SSE, along side great work colleagues and a positive attitude at work.
Do not think you’re not good enough to work for a big company like SSE, everyone is treated equally and given the same opportunities so don’t let anything hold you back.
