With being an apprentice electrician my day could either be wiring or fitting out and depending on who I’m working with it can be a range between inspection and testing or glanding cables into distribution boards
Everything I have learned about being an electrician has been with sse, I have picked up healthy habits and good skills from the people I’ve been working with
I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot and most days I get to try different things so I have a good all round understanding
I feel that I am a valued member of my team, I know that I have built up good relationships with the people I am working with and I know they value me as a member of the team
I feel that it is organised well to an extend but there is always aspects outwith the control of people above me. For example bad weather delaying a job or other trades running behind so that we cannot get in to do what we need to
I have received help from my training advisor, I know that if I have any issues I can take it to them and they would bring it up with the appropriate people
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I feel that I can go to them with any issue and they would be supportive and help me.
I feel that I am able to manage my salary well, it was tough when first starting but as I’ve progressed I’ve been able to save more and more as the wage has increased
I feel that there are a wide range of activities out there if I was to look for them.
Yes
I feel SSE is a great company to work for and have great work place benefits and is an overall good company to work for
The advise I would give is to research before applying for the job, you need to have a clear understanding of what you want to do, and once you know for certain then apply
