Day to day after the initial training period involves working on a project given to you by your role lead, this can include configuring a router and stacking it, planning a project , presenting what you have learned, All depends on where you are rotated to in the business.
There is so much to learn every day and being part of a global business there are so many smart people to learn from, even hearing from some of the previous apprentices it is clear that so much has been learned. Presentation skills , Cisco qualifications and learning about technology as a whole has been a main focus so far.
It is quite enjoyable and just with any job there are some good days and bad days but the job has exceeded expectations with just how much is available outside of work such as fun funds, roadshows, Christmas carols NBA visits but the good usually outways the bad
Feel quite valued by Cisco and my managers but there seems to but a few people seem to not give us enough responsibility based on our roles as apprentices you really have to prove yourself above others.
A lot of free reign is given to you as an apprentice to manage your time and you really have to structure your time well balancing out your degree, qualifications and work.
Sometimes the training providers take quite a bit of time to get back to you and provide minimal feedback but the qualification training providers are great and make learning fun. Most of the degree is provided through video learning with face to face sessions once every 2 or so weeks but the 3 modules so far it seems you really have to go out of your way to get support.
Quite a bit of support you get a technical mentor and a personal mentor from the years above and they are always nice but you will always get as much support as you ask for and no matter who it is people are usually happy to help you.
I'm living at home at the moment so salary is fine, but depending on where your home office is things can get quite expensive. Some people are joint renting and seem to be doing fine so the pay is quite good. The food at the office is quite expensive though comparable to what I'm used to but it is all cooked fresh but would recommend bringing food from home as it can really dip into your finances. Travel is awesome when not going to you home office as you can expense the miles/ ticket back to the company which makes things a lot cheaper.
There is a gym on campus and many other perks to working here, there are things like NBA London games as Cisco is partnered with them. School events, going to the natural history museum, BT and other partner events, university challenges and so much more to take part in as well as groups and societies like in uni's.
Yes
Great place to work with great people.
Just apply and see what happens it is a great opportunity and I'm happy to be a part of it.
