  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • 1. Working within Restructuring has led me to dealing with Clients over the phone, given real responsibility as the team depend on me to get it right so that the operations of the business can run smoothly. I also play a crucial role in making sure that the systems that are used within Restructuring are up to date with lastest information possible about our clients.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • 2. Most Definitely, I have broadened my skills by answering phones, answering and just generally communicating with people surrounding me within my team. This has led to me being more able to answer queries from clients on many platforms as I become more knowledgeable about the business and the way it operates.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • 3. It’s been great. The amount of time, financial expense and effort that KPMG has afforded to me has led me to meet people from all over the UK and learn from some of the most experienced and talented people in the financial world.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • 4. Throughout every aspect of my experience at KPMG I feel as if that my individual self has been respected and the amount of investment that they have put into me as an apprentice only goes to show that they see me as the future of their organisation.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • 5. Very Structured. From the outset of the programme, it was shown to us at how the 360 programme will be structured as our qualifications were thoroughly explained to us at our introduction and our classes at BPP have only reinforced this. It must also be said that the placement structure of the programme is also rigidly organised as we have been given the time periods at which we are to stay within each department.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I believe that BPP have provided with the essential materials and support that are required for apprentices to have the best chance of passing their exams. Tutors are very helpful as they provide us with their email addresses so that we can seek assistance at any time.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • KPMG have provided us with all the support that is necessary for us to succeed in our apprenticeship as they have supplied us with dedicated managers who assess our overall performance during the apprenticeship. They have also dedicated certain days out of the year for study leave.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I believe that the salary provided to us is fair, considering the work that is expected of us. I am satisfied with the holidays that are given to us as it allows a bit of time off during the year. It must also be said that the time for volunteering that is allowed to us can be used to put towards cause that can really benefit the local community.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes. KPMG have been great in this aspect as they have provided us with forums that allow us to socialise and network with people who are from different offices than myself. Within my department they also organise events such as football matches or just after work drinks. There are lots of opportunities.

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I really do believe that it would be a struggle to find any apprenticeship in the UK and beyond that meets the opportunity and quality that KPMG’s 360 programme possesses. It must also be said that the level of support that I’ve experienced from my peers at KPMG and management just demonstrates the want for me to succeed in my endeavour to be as good as I can be.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Be Yourself. Make sure your prepared and work hard to learn the company. Push yourself and show that in your interview. Go to the open evenings as they helped me a lot when applying to KPMG and make sure you say that you were at these events in the interviews. At the open interviews, make sure you ask questions as the answers can prove to be crucial in the assessment centre.
