I was first placed in Deal Advisory, roles primarily start off as support workers to assistant managers and managers. Tasks included of sorting letters and filing them on our systems to research and investigations of bank statements to find evidence of fraud. Interactions are limitless, I have had the opportunity to set up meetings with heads of departments and people leaders to talk about my programme and development as a whole and everyone is keen to help. Responsibilities are high as we are very heavily regulated, we have to ensure work is done to the highest of standards so this is an expectation even for an apprentice.
Currently studying towards AAT Level 4 with an option to fast track, if I choose to do so. Internal Training opportunities are available as we have a learning portal you can sign up to do any other courses you may wish. Department training is regular and very interesting. I have taken on several learning courses including microsoft office skills to specialist software training.
The work is very enjoyable and the team are fantastic and ready to help. You have to ensure you prioritise work and complete it to a very high standard. The reason I joined KPMG is because of the culture and people and this has really helped me enjoy the programme. All expectations were met from my collegues.
If you are outstanding in your work, you can recieve awards and recognition. Feedback is given in any work that you do with pointers/areas of improvement, this is very useful. Involvement is key and KPMG makes sure that you are involved with as many tasks as possible giving you a variety of experience.
The support from college is good. Internally, the programme may not be as advertised as you cannot choose what department you get into as part of the 360, you are placed in accordance to business needs. Although within the rotation, it is quite structured.
If you attend college for a module, expect to self study after until your exams. Although the materials are excellent which enables you to do this.
There is alot of suupport available to you and KPMG makes adjustments and considers your needs.Any problems you may have are well addressed.
The salary is low! There is little chance of growth and this troubling due to rising living, travel and daily costs.
Lots of events occuring in London office and opportunities are there. I quit Uni for KPMG and I dont regret that decision as you are working in a top firm with lots of help and opportunities available at your disposal.
Yes
The culture is fantastic and you are well supported throughout. Free lunch everyday is also nice!
Ensure you know KPMGs values and what we stand for. Talk about this and relate it to how you have shown this in your work/school.
