Electrical Building Service Engineering Apprentice. Assisting project managers in a variety of different projects including MOD jobs, Schools and cathedrals. I have also been responsible for going on site and performing surveys.
I have learnt a lot of new skills specific to the job and also developed other qualities such as team work. I am gaining a qualification in Building Service Engineering. I have learnt how to use a variety of softwares such as Relux and Amtech and developed my previous knowledge in Microsoft office.
I really enjoy it, I think the day release to college is really worthwhile. I really enjoy working within the team I am in and also the company. The apprenticeship has definitely met my expectations.
I feel very valued and often get appraisal. Every month my training officer from Stegta comes in and speaks to my manager, this then gets fed back to me and tells me how well I am performing. I am surprised about the amount of responsibility I am getting in certain projects which I really enjoy.
The structure is really good, first I completed online induction training which helped me understand Mott MacDonald more and how to set up my work station etc. I then moved onto a small project where I learnt to do lighting calculations and Amtech with a graduate who was really friendly. There is a wide range of brilliant electrical engineers who all individually help with my learning, all with a different grade. The only disadvantage is travelling all the way to London for college.
I am receiving a lot of support, my training officer comes in every month to check up on my progression and set me new tasks.
My manager has given me lots of support and set me tasks to achieve over the next 12 months for part of my PDR. They all check up on me to find out how I am finding college etc.
Not brilliant, I am not saving much after all my costs however it is not terrible
There is a lot of activities to get involved in such as sports.
