As a KPMG360 apprentice, I work as an assistant in the corporate tax team in the business. I interact with colleagues in my team, who range from other apprentices like me all the way up to the partner in my team. I am responsible for the accounts on many clients, working on their tax returns and am involved in many client specific projects, which I enjoy a lot as the work required differs in each client.
In the job i've been able to develop many skills. These include inter-team communicating when collaborating on projects; and leaderships skills when I've been placed in charge of client projects. KPMG have also provided accounting training for me as part of my course and have learnt a lot of job specific skills this way.
I really enjoy my programme, it allows me to work in a Big 4 firm, interact with senior colleagues, and work on exciting and big clients. It has allowed me to work in an environment that not any people my age get the chance to work in, so for that I'm really enjoying the experience.
I feel very valued by KPMG. From the very start of my placement the said how important the young apprentices are to the firm, and how we are the driving force behind the firm. Straight away we are thrown onto client work and important work at that. This shows how valued we must be to the firm, as they are entrusting us very early on in our apprenticeship.
I feel like the structuring of the programme is very good. We had a week induction at the start to get us into the job and know the processes of the business. After this we got invited into our teams and then into a 2 week training programme for our first exams. After this block of studying we then had a large amount of time in our teams and working with them, before having study time again. We also have frequent meetings with performance managers to discuss how we are and our performances at work and exams.
We receive enough support from our training provider. We receive all the relevant study materials we need for our exams, plus study leave from work to concentrate on said exams. In our meetings with our performance managers, we are allowed to talk about any struggles or queries we have, without feeling that we are doing wrong.
I feel like there is plenty of support coming from my employer. There are many protocols and structure sin place in order for us apprentices to feel supported.. I have lots of contacts in place to get in touch with regarding a number of queries and it is nice to know this structure is in place. Whether its my designated buddy in my team, or a member of the HR team, I have been in contact with many people who at here to support me
My salary is very competitive to other apprenticeship. I travel from quite far to get to work everyday out of choice to work for a Big 4 firm, however even with quite substantial train costs I am still left with a sizeable amount at the end of the month.
The team I am currently in offer many out of work activities. We go out a lot on work evenings out, have game nights and I have the option to join sports teams in the company.

The atmosphere is extremely friendly and inviting, whilst also offering professional work. The opportunity to work at a Big 4 firm is truly amazing and the people in the firm strive hard to achieve success and this rubs off on everyone in the firm.
Whilst you should act professional in your interview, try hard to show your true self in the interview process, KPMG don't want robots working for them and need personality in the work force. Showing who you truly are will help you stand out from the others with your personality. They aren't expecting you to know everything, they just want a will to succeed and throw yourself at every opportunity possible in order to learn and further your career.
