I am a credit sanctioner and sit on the Business Banking Credit Risk team. I am responsible for sanctioning business loan or overdraft requests and some more administrative roles along side this.
I have learnt a lot about Finance and Business, learning how to handle accounts and looking at the non-financials of a business to assess its viability. I have also passed two exams and course work as part of my apprenticeship.
I greatly enjoyed my programme, as it has given me a step into a huge company like RBS. I have come in to a role/level that normally takes a few years of experience elsewhere in the bank, skipping some lower stages. I think the company's attitude towards development is great and supportive.
I feel very valued by RBS, to be one of the younger generation coming in to what is an aging environment and being able to learn and grow from their experiences to take over one day. I get recognition from management and mentors regularly.
The programme is well structured, it has a good induction period where you are settled in to both the job role and general work life well. You are assigned a mentor who works closely with you to aid your development. Managers always offer support to what you want to do.
My training provider was good, they helped with the course I was doing and were always there if I needed anything, even for the job role side. I would say that my mentor from my training provider greatly helped make the course and understanding the systems easy.
I have been constantly supported by my employer. My mentor has been very helpful with teaching me the job role and my manager has been good with development opportunities. Someone is always available to help.
My package meets my costs at the stage I am at in life, and this will improve once I leave the programme and only continue to improve from there. The office is located in a city centre so transport is easy to manage, the company also offers schemes to help with this.
There are a lot of volunteering events and social events outside of work that are organised across every office. Things like football teams, going for drinks, helping at charity days, there is always something to get involved in if you want to.
Yes
I have no bad things to say about how I have been treated since joining the company, therefore I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.
The application process can take quite a long time, with a small amount of communication in between stages. The process itself is straightforward and interviews are similarly normal.
