  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Working at RBS is really great. Work is varied and you are challenged with new tasks almost daily. Teams I have been with, were amazing. They all were focused specialist of their fields from whom I learned quite a lot. It was really great.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by NatWest?
  • It seems that as soon as I started to put in effort, trust my intuition and working to achieve my goals, every manager recognised me. I was nominated quite a few times for great efforts. It is quite easy to step in and take on new tasks/projects and feel valued for working on them even if you require a lot of support from others.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say it is 9 stars out of 10. I get to know important people who were helping me with my tasks. Everyone did their best to make sure that I understand tasks correctly and I'm also motivated to do them. I had enough time to do my studies and work. There were plenty of meetings, and supervisors made us aware that we can contact them any time if we need to without waiting for meeting. Everything was great, but I felt that some task could be changes a bit. They were rather odd and not always easy to understand first time.

  • Enough. I was able to relay on training provider to give me feedback and guidance to perform my work correctly. They would provide great feedback that would help me to understand the requirements better and complete the tasks well.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It ticked all the boxes. I was able to support my independent living cost, enough to go truth all month and at the ends, make some savings on the side for future investments (not BitCoin).

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of work. Depending in which area you are working, it can be difficult to attend them all. There are events where they promote interesting technology, if you are not able to see them face to face, RBS also provide recorded video/audio to listen in later. Also, RBS HQ - Gogarburn is located in a really nice area. So if you want to walk around the lovely park and maybe check on otters living in the river close by you are more then welcome to do so.

  • 9. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work. You can start to have impact on your team really quickly. Everyone listens to your opinion and ideas (even if they are terrible) and provide feedback on them. This is a great place to get valuable experience that will help you to progress anywhere else in your future careers if you decide to leave the bank.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Take your time and start application early. RBS require quite a lot of documents and it can be quite difficult to get them all. When you are attending assessment days, come in to have a great time. Yes, there a lot of people applying and trying to get here and competition can look steep, but as long as you are interested, paying attention and doing your best you will be noticed.
