  • Design Engineer, interactions with all functions around the business. planning work, carrying out formal study's, first model work into parts and assemblies, worked on a number of projects with 2 launched into market

  • BTEC LVL 3, NVQ LEVEL 3, Creo training, Ansys training, Project management training, people and phone skills, supplier discussions

  • the jobs and projects i am given to complete. the weekly meetings i have to track my improvement

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Cummins?
  • internally in my placement in engineering i feel valued, this is shown by the work i am given and the parts i have now working in the field

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • now i am in my final job placement i have less support than i did at the start due to now having a knowledge of the job i am carrying out, but when needed there is always help around. i have weekly one on ones with my manager that helps track my progress

  • college work is always supported through college

  • manager is always asking how he can help, trying to push me into new training and to improve myself

  • salary was very good but has tailed off in the final year compared to other business in the same area in engineering

  • we are involved in a yearly community programs with currently carrying out a community project

  • the respected apprenticeship, the opportunities given and the training given


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
  • the level of apprentice they are now looking for is higher from when they first started, do background research into the company
