  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Finance apprentice within M&G. My day to day tasks include payments, ad hoc requests and I have many other tasks that I complete month on month. Since joining I have slowly been getting more responsibilities. It doesn't matter if you don't have any experience working in finance or haven't studied it before everything gets taught to you on the job

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at M&G so far - everyone in my team and otherwise has been very friendly and supportive. There's a wide variety of things to do and it's very sociable. There are lots of apprenticeship schemes available here so there's something for everyone no matter what department you want to go into

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have had meetings with people from M&G and the people who provide my training for my accounting qualifications and have had the process mapped out for me so I can see what I should be achieving and when. It's good as it gives me goals to work towards.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have had some contact with the training provider however I would like to have more contact going forwards. Improvements need to be done on the providers end however I know the people organising it within M&G are trying to improve this.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer in regards to my training. I get study leave days to go to classroom sessions where I learn for my exams. I also get study leave in the run up to exams so I can focus on studying and not worry about work. I have my manager and a contact in HR who support me with my training. I was also matched up with another apprentice who's doing the same qualification as me and we go to classroom days together which is nice.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary well exceeded expectations - on top of my base salary there are annual bonus reviews, season ticket loans (to help pay for travel costs) and many other benefits. There is also a subsidised canteen in the building which provides breakfast and lunch everyday.

  • There are lots of events for apprentices at M&G. We get invited to any Investment2020 events that are happening as well as events which are organised by M&G. There is a apprentice and graduate annual Christmas party. M&G offers time off if you want to go and volunteer for a day.
