My job title is a HR apprentice. The tasks that I am currently doing are helping with assessment centres, setting up induction days for new joiners, sorting out Careers Fairs to promote the business to grads, organising training sessions for around the business and dealing with qualifications that people would like to study for. I also do a lot of admin jobs including dealing with invoices, setting up meeting etc.
I have learnt a lot of new skills and also have developed existing skills. When studying for my qualification, I have learnt a lot about how the business works and what M&G does as a business. Also, through working I have been able to develop my communication skills. I get to talk to new people every day and have really improved my communication.
So far, I have really been enjoying the programme that I am on. The work I have been doing has been very interesting and I have enjoyed learning new skills and how to deal with new tasks. The culture at M&G is very friendly. This makes me feel very supported and happy at work.
I feel very valued at work. I get appreciation from my manager and receive recognition for work which I have done well. Also, I feel valued as they allow me to get involved with different tasks and projects and give me responsibility for tasks.
The apprenticeship programme at M&G is very structured and organised. It is clearly set out on what the programme is like and what I need to do to receive my qualification. The support is also very good as I have meetings where I can discuss how the apprenticeship is going and also how work is.
The support from my training provider is good. I can easily get into contact with them and they will respond with any queries which I have. I also meet up with my training provider every month to discuss my apprenticeship and work. This makes me feel very supported in my apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support from my manager. I have weekly meetings with both of my managers, in these meetings they ask what I have been doing and help guide me with any problems which I have. The support I receive has allowed me to have a good relationship that I feel comfortable to approach my managers when I need help or have a problem.
Yes the salary is very good.
I think there are many opportunities outside of work. There has been Christmas parties for both the HR team and apprentices. The business also offers 2 days for volunteering every year and also a team building day. Additionally, there are company events which take place at M&G where speakers come in to talk about a topic. For example, Ruby Wax came in to talk about mental health and depression.
Yes
The people at M&G are so friendly that work is enjoyable. M&G also offer a good apprenticeship scheme and are very supportive in ensuring that you are happy in your role.
Make sure you research into M&G before your interview. Be yourself. Have a clear interest in what you are doing.
