I am a trainee associate and am currently working on regulated fund audits, so I am auditing a few funds and going through each of the work steps ever day. I also help out with planning and conclusions of the audits. My daily interactions involve talking to my team, asking questions and attending meetings. Externally I often call clients or email them. I am responsible for making sure my fund is finished in time for reviews and that my work is a good quality.
I am currently studying my CFAB qualification and have passed my assurance exam. I have been on a number of training courses such as introduction to audit and developing audit knowledge where I learnt the basics on what I would be doing everyday. I have improved on my communication skills as I now interact with clients. I am no more confident on how to speak professionally in emails and on the phone. I have also developed my auditing skills and now know how to perform an audit on a fund and do it to a good standard.
I enjoy carrying out the substantive procedures for an audit and learning new things. I also enjoy the new challenges I am given and working out ways to overcome these challenges. Working with a team is also good as I get to improve my communications and have a good support network if I get stuck on things. It didn't meet my expectations as I didn't expect to have so much work to do at first however I do enjoy the work. Overall however I am enjoying the programme and feel it was a good next step after A Level.
I feel fairly valued by EY. The execs I work with and managers do make me feel appreciated which has exceeded my expectations. I haven't received external recognition as I haven't had been here long.
The induction and training have been a bit overwhelming. There was a lot of information to take in at once and therefore I learnt more on the job than in the sessions I attended. The support has been very good for the programme especially from my buddy and peers. Studying was a bit tough to balance with work and I found it hard to fit in the time to study as I had a long commute. However everything else has been up to a good standard
I received a good amount of support and have found a good attitude towards helping me out and making sure I am happy.
