Over the course of my time working for Engie my knowledge in construction has progressed hugely. I have developed my people skills further and grown confidence when speaking to people about construction as I had little/no knowledge at all before I started this job role. I feel a lot more confident within the industry I have chosen compared to when I first started.
Engie are a really good company to work for; They are really professional. The team I am part of are really helpful and offer advise and knowledge when I am unsure of something. When starting the program I wasn't really sure what to expect but I am really enjoying my time so far!
The team I am in are really helpful and I feel they want to help me progress as far as I possibly can within the construction industry. My mentor sets me tasks to fulfil on a daily basis and talks me through how to complete these before hand every day.
I attend University 1 day a week at Leeds Beckett; and work Tuesday to Friday full time. we are set work at university to complete for the next week and then also set assignments along with exams for each unit. my team at work are really supportive and are happy to help with my studies. we started university 3 weeks late which was a bit hard at first to catch up but currently I am up to date and enjoying the whole experience.
Leeds Beckett have a huge range of different learning resources to help with the degree. My Beckett is the university's learning portal with all the course content and any other useful information you need; there is also a link to the library and a list of books and e books online to use.
overall I feel Engie are a very supportive company to work for. If I have any problems or queries all my team, including my manager and the HR Team are happy to help me and give advice. I feel nobody feels like its a chore to help me and they all go out of their way to do so.
For a degree apprenticeship I feel that my hourly rate is fairly reasonable compared to other people I speak to working else wear who are under taking a degree apprenticeship. However, I live 20 miles away from the main office but when traveling to site it is 55 miles one way; so even though I am getting paid for my mileage I am putting a lot of miles on my own car. in the near future I am wanting to save for my own house and get a mortgage but currently I cant afford to do this.
Employees from Engie are always attending award Events for various things including apprenticeship award ceremonies and charitable events.
