I'm a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, who is currently working at Ivor Grove Site, Doncaster. This site is a 50 New Build Development. On a daily basis I interact internally with my mentor, site manager, project manager, labourer and externally with subcontractors. I'm currently sending out different trades for tender and processing orders with subcontractors.
I'm currently studying Quantity Surveying Degree at Leeds Beckett alongside my job so my Quantity Surveying knowledge is increasing theoretically and practically. My onsite construction knowledge is developing as I am out on site occasionally. My IT skills are developing as I am working on my laptop daily. To date I haven't done much training.
I am enjoying the programme, as I like the team I'm working with and the overall programme is meeting my expectations.
As my time at Engie is increasing I am beginning to feel more valued within my team.
The programme was slightly rushed at the beginning, which delayed the start of the course. A training plan was created for the first 3 months which worked. My programme from January18 was full time Quantity Surveyor which I am currently doing now with my mentor.
To date I haven't required much support but I know my manger and mentor are very helpful.
I haven't required much support but I know if I required any support it would be easily assessable for any colleague.
I am currently working out at Ivor Grove which is close to where I live so that is very helpful in terms of travel costs, however Uni is in Leeds which isn't the closest of locations. For my age I think my salary and package is reasonable.
I am not aware of any opportunities outside of work at this present time.
Yes
Engie is a good progressive company to work for which holds a great team to work with.
I would advise anyone applying to Engie to say confident, and research Engie. I had 1 interview and no assessment, during the interview I was asked a variety of questions which involved what I know, my previous experience and my goals. I thought these questions were reasonable.
