I work within IT managing changes and releases to banking applications. I also work with Senior management producing and presenting reports on monthly data stats.
In my tenure I have gained a variety of new skills. There are lots of internal training courses which I have completed such as time management and It management. I have previously attended external courses on excel to increase my knowledge on the programme.
I enjoy my programme a lot, I feel I am given a good amount of autonomy within my role. This makes me enjoy my role a lot as I do not feel I need to always be guided on what to do and I can work off my own initiative.
I feel very valued by Nomura. As an employer they really take the time to help me out should I need any help. My opinion matters a lot within my team and they make me feel included.
The programme is structured well. The courses were split out over a period of 7 months which I personally found useful as there was more than enough time to revise each section between workshops. Support from my team was good as I was given dedicated time each week to go through my work and complete coursework and assignments. I have a mentor who is a Project Manager and found them very helpful and useful when completing my work.
I received a good amount of support from my training provider, my tutors were really helpful and were always on hand to call or reply to an email to help with my coursework.
I have received a lot of support from my employer. As previously mentioned I was given lots of time to complete my coursework and actually finish my apprenticeship 3 months ahead of schedule. Without this support from my employer I would not have finished as early as I did.
I am happy with my salary package it covers my travel costs and social costs too. The location of the office is very convenient.
There are lots of opportunities outside of work. Nomura run a variety of different programmes & societies which employees are encouraged to attend where possible. Also during the summer there is a bar which is on our terrace which overlooks the Thames and has a great view of the Shard and Tower Bridge.
Yes
Nomura is a great place to work and they really look after their staff and care for their wellbeing.
Make sure to research the company and know what an Investment Bank does. This is a question which I was asked and as I was prepared I was able to answer. Be sure to read the job specification and tailor your answers so you can prove that you are capable of doing the role.
