I was a team leader in a afterschool care department, I worked with and managed two other apprentices who helped out with the daily operations. I dealt with any phone calls that came in for the department, email enquiries, helped manage staffing for each day, managed the booking system we have for customers, chased any outstanding payments, helped the operations manager track payroll, took minutes in meetings and dealt with any complaints or issues that came about.
I would say a lot of the skills I have are from my experience in the role, handling complaints via email and phone. I picked up a lot of customer service skills throughout this role, improved my ability on excel working with lots of different spreadsheets. I improved my communicational skills, speaking with customers on a daily basis as well as having to effectively communicate with my team. The company offered opportunities where I had the chance to create and manage a project to help improve how the department is operating. This has allowed me to learn about different ways to make your daily operations more efficient.
I very much enjoyed the programme, the team I worked with was very welcoming and helpful. They help you out throughout the whole process and look to see you improve. I believe the the experience really helps you to get into the working environment from being a student, slowly being introduced to the different aspects of working in a business and office environment. The programme exceeded my expectation and each day was a surprise and I found my self learning something new every time.
I felt very valued by Let Me Play, the company offers a lot of opportunities, you are very involved in the companies projects. I was included in many of the main projects for my department and got a lot of recognition for the work I did in these projects. There has been lots of courses and training the company has offered me as well as getting me involved in the managers training they had every so often.
The programme was very well organised and structured, during the Induction of the programme, I was made aware of what the apprenticeship will look like. The training and support offered at the start was well prepared and organised. I was introduced to the different members of the department, given a breakdown of health and safety, as well as given tasks appropriate to my ability and knowledge at the time. Meetings with my manager were set out from the start, time set for my course work was also laid out during the first week of the programme.
Let Me Play has offered a lot of support and guidance throughout me programme. They would be very accessible, if I had any problems during the programme, it was addressed immediately. The staff are often available to help, you can contact them on the company line, otherwise you could send an email and except a reply quite quick. The tutors are amazing, they are very flexible and try to work around your schedule as much as possible and they provide lots of support.
I would say that I have received a lot of support and guidance from my manager. From day 1, they help you to ease into the role by providing a lot of support where needed. There was always guidance with each task, the managers were always accessible, therefore if you needed help you could go to the manager and ask for guidance or send an email.
In terms of the salary, I believe it allowed me to pay for my living, travel, food any social costs. Let Me Play, has taken into consideration the location and different factors which can affect a persons daily costs. I personally had no issues regarding costs with the salary I had.
There are many departments within the company, there was lots of company events and activities outside of work that was available. There was voluntary events within the local community, company run events by Let Me Play. As Let Me Play has many sports related programmes, there was opportunities to be involved in their events run.
Yes
I believe that the company can really help you step into the working world if you were a student who had no previous experience. The staff are welcoming and very friendly, they look to constantly help you throughout. They offer many opportunities and if something isn't for you they look to see what other options can be offered.
Apply soon as you can! The application process is simple and if you needed any assistance or guidance you can get a hold of the friendly staff on the company line or you could write an email to the company. The whole process is quite smooth and the company offers lots of different programmes, so the main advice I would give is to carefully take a look at the possible opportunities.
