I am part of the university course- so if i'm not at university studying, i will be based in London on work experience. Work on placement can be simple, including rolling forward documents or more complex such as gathering and testing samples.
Yes- I have learnt several- which are specific to my qualification and degree and will help me progress within the finance industry in later life.
Thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and experience that comes with being on a small course, with the ability to know everyone. I also love the fact the year is split between university and work- enabling me to get to experience many different things/your average day-to-day varies
Quite- they put a lot of effort into focusing on the flying start scheme, and ensuring you get the best experience out of it.
Very well organised. The way the course is laid out means we have a good split between work and exams. The subjects themselves are divided quite well between the years- although third year always appears to be the dreaded year.
Quite a lot- we have a week of training before we start the course- which gives us an oversight into what it is we should know/will be covering.
A bit- they keep in touch. More support comes from alumni on/from the course. We do get emails from our course leaders to ensure we're ok, however contact from the university team over placement is quite minimal
Quite well- although for living in london, which is very expensive, it can be a struggle sometimes, especially having to pay for expensive transport on top of living expenses.
Not really within pwc- probably because we're not here for long enough to enroll ourselves into extracurricular activities, outside of the normal audit work.
Yes
Its a great company, with lots of opportunities, whether it be going through the university scheme, or the leavers scheme or simply joining as a new employee. The work atmosphere is good- however there needs to be a change on the work ethic- which appears to be the norm in busy season, of working until very late. Whilst its clear that deadlines need to be met- people should not be working until 10/11pm a night, if the work done is efficient and the manager has budgeted correctly for the job. Its evident in those cases- more time just needs to be taken on completing these audits, which means a later deadline.
Take as many opportunities as you can whilst you're here- because it will pay off in the long run, in getting your name out there and moving up within the company.
