  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Financial Planning Administrator Apprentice. Daily tasks include completing VCT/EIS Investment packs, completing paperwork for pension schemes, off-shore bond withdrawals etc. I interact with my team which includes 4 Administrators, 3 Paraplanners and 6 Financial Planners, I also speak to and interact with Client Advisors and Client Advisor Assistant's on queries relating to their clients. I call providers requesting information up to 10 times a day and send out letters to clients of the bank and providers on our platforms. My responsibility is all of the work I complete, in an industry such as banking no mistake goes unnoticed and it's very different to school/college in that aspect, everything is monitored and your integrity really is key to your success. There have been a few projects I personally have completed however these have mainly been to clear up systems etc. Which can be boring however you have to start somewhere.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My organization has had to improve rapidly and just all in all being professional. I am also studying the Financial Ethics and Regulations in the R01 Course.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy some of the work I complete as you can get some interesting cases and some of the tax and investments interest me. I get along with my team and they are always there to help. The company culture is great as it's very forward thinking and modern. It has exceeded my expectations to be honest and I'm in an extremely fortunate position.

  • It is a large company so not in the bigger picture however you feel valued in your individual teams.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction into the apprenticeship scheme was very well structured however since being at the desk it hasn't been as structured as my team are focused on work, which can be annoying as I would love to do well in my studies, this is hard when there is minimum time to study a week.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My training provider meets me once a month and talks to us about how we're doing and what we're needing help with. Sometimes it seems he wants us to do well so he doesn't get told off but they have provided us with great resources to study ourselves.

  • Not much, we rarely get time to study.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary started well and I have been here 6 months and had a payrise, which shows how much they value me within the team.

  • We can volunteer two charity days a year.

  • Yes

  • Because it's a great company to work for and coming to the city every day is great.
