Apprentice Welder, now I have moved to night shift I see my team leaders at the beginning and during every shift and they set me a job usually with a tradesman. When I was on days I found that I was very rarely given a job and team leaders didn't really care
Since coming on nights I have massively improved my welding skills and have a much clearer understanding of the processes involved in our work
I enjoy my programme this is due to the people I work with and the work I do
I feel valued by my team leader and squad but not by the company, I wish to pursue higher education but I am just being rejected due to being a welder despite setting out my reasons for wanting to do extra qualification
The whole apprenticeship is poorly structured unless you are on nights you very rarely get put with a tradesman and are rarely helped.
My learning coordinator does all he can to support me and other apprentices.
Again I feel the support I receive from employer is poor due to them not wanting any welders to do any extra education
I feel the salary is fair
I have no knowledge of any company opportunities outside of work
