As part of the sales team, our main role is to work with clients either through our partners or face-face.
As our experience was mainly shadowing the sales team, I did not gain any new skills; however, I did ask the hosts what skills are required for this job. They replied that communication skills are vital as well as being able to stand out from the rest of the members.
I enjoyed the programme very much as I felt part of the team immediately. The culture is very diverse at Cisco.
Employees feel incredibly valued by Cisco as does the manager value employees equally. Internally, employees get high recognition. Partners also get recognition. This is done through the marketing team organised recognition events.
Induction - We get a thorough tour of the building and get told how things function. Training - Training usually lasts for 3 years and employees receive a qualification out of this. Studying - Cisco is connected with Roe Hampton for those students doing an Apprenticeship.
Training providers give you full support and are very approachable making it that much easier for employees to ask for assistance.
The manager does not interfere in your working environment unless clients have made a complaint about you. Employers give you full support in the cases of any emergency family events or hospital appointments. There are mentors in order to assist with any personal problems which is kept confidential.
Cisco provides their employees with high end work phones and laptops. Depending on your position within the job, you may be offered a company car where you can use the car or use the money given for the car. In addition, dental and healthcare costs are all covered by Cisco.
The company gives each and every employee 5 days, excluding their average holidays in a year, in order to "give back". This opportunity is given so that employees can give back to the community in whatever way they desire such as through working in a charity.

The conditions for employees in Cisco are very lenient and flexible. Sales is the highest paid department out of all the other sectors within Cisco.
One you have been selected through the application process, there will be 3-4 varied interviews including face-face interviews and a group interview. The assessment days are assessed in the same way universities mark their papers. Cisco offer apprenticeships which will give an advantage to those who didn't go to university.
