  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The apprenticeship scheme at Bam Nuttall consists of colleges blocks and time on site. during the college blocks we learn about the industry and gain our qualifications, these include btec level 3 subsidiary diploma, HND levels and NVQ. Right now i'm working on Tottenham court road station upgrade this is a £400 million. My role is an apprentice quantity surveyor, my daily jobs include filling out time sheets and project hours reports. I also evaluate payments and look over subcontract agreements. I am responsible for updating weekly turnstile data and final contract signatures and also any task given to me for example finding data or putting together small reports.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt key time managing and keeping skills and communication skills. I have passed health and safety tests to gain a CSCS card. I have also learnt how to use Microsoft excel efficiency.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • During working here i have made close relationships and BAM take us for team bonding which is always good fun. How friendly everybody is surprised me also, everybody has time for you an to help you out.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAM?
  • There is internal recognition of when work is being done to a good standard. also feedback is very positive and constructive but mainly at BAM you feel like you are heard if there is a problem or you need help you don't feel intimidated at all, everybody is there to help you learn and succeed.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised we now our dates for the next year of what we are doing and what we will be doing and achieving.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Any support necessary, our training provider is always there to help if need be.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Anybody in bam you are connected too will help you in anyway they can. For example on site if i need help from somebody i dont know they will go the extra mile to help you and that is including myself if i can help or try to help then i will to the best of my ability it really is BAM nuttall culture.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • BAM pay for my living away costs and any travel included during college time our our food is paid for and my wage covers all my costs very well

  • Yes lots, there are always company events like the BAM roadshow. there are team building activities.

  • Yes

  • great opportunity to gain great experience and qualifications, one of the best if not the best apprenticeship schemes BAM really care about each and every employer.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Be confident at the interview and have a genuine interest in the company and the industry. ask questions and try to get some relevant experience also. during college blocks it is vital to get work done because the work load can be overwhelming. Make sure to manage time efficiently and to seek help if needed BAM will help. onsite don't be afraid to ask questions the silliest question you can ask if the one you don't ask!!
