I am part of the supplier delivery support. This means i am responsible for the upkeep and running of the supplier tracker - this is a excel that keeps track of upcoming contracts, contacts, purchase order tracking etc. I am also responsible for contacting suppliers for quotes when need be, checking they are valid and then raising them with our team for a PO. On top of this i am in charge of the shared mailbox and take any queries and issues that come in to it.
I have gained much strong communication skills. As i need to contact people daily i feel my communication/interpersonal skills have developed a lot more. I can now speak to people in confidence and don't need to think before i do it. Also my software skills have developed greatly, i feel i know about and know how to use the software in my workplace very well - although i still want to learn more.
I enjoy my work a lot. This is down to several factors including things like; - people, the people i work with are very easy to talk to and not once have i felt iffy about asking a question or raising a problem. - variety, the variety of work on a day to day basis makes work easy to come to. Every day is different practically so this avoids any boredom creeping in.
I feel valued by CGI in a number of ways. I am independent in many of my tasks, this shows me that i am a trusted employee. My work always feels appreciated, whether it be a simple 'thanks' or analysis of it, it never goes under the radar.
My training is structured well and i am always aware of upcoming training. Study time for QA is always allowed and management always encourage we take time to do so.
Our training provider contact us regularly, whether it be a face to face catch up or a quick email, they are easy to access and always keen to help and take any questions.
CGI are always keen to help and support when needed.
Location of this account is very central so there is more than enough public transport for myself to get to and from work. Salary is competitive in this type of apprenticeship so happy about this.
There are many volunteering and local community events (as this is in the contract) however i sometimes feel they go unnoticed due to the understandably fast-paced nature of the account.
Yes
As there is huge variety in the workplace, many different project, with many different job roles. So this lowers the chance of boredom of work massively. I feel the competitive salary plays a part in this also, it makes CGI a more attractive company to work for if the salary remains competitive. The people, the people in CGI are ideal for an apprentice as they are always keen to help and listen to any issues and problems you have.
Dont be afraid to ask questions. There are endless amounts of abbreviations and technical terms, therefore its better to ask straight away than sit around for ages lost.
