I am currently training to be a bid support consultant. My job requires me to manage bids which come in for pieces of work which my company carries out. I am required to talk to managers and find out what they are doing as well as generate weekly reports which update project managers on the progress of bids.
I have learnt many new skills already from doing this job. I have significantly improved my Microsoft Excel skills through internal courses, my written communication skills and my time management skills. Through the university course i have also developed my independent learning skills and team working skills. I have also improved my security awareness skills through online training.
I really enjoy my job here at CGI. I am given a lot of responsibility which i like as i enjoy being busy. I also have a really good team who are always there to guide and support me when i need help or am learning new tasks. The culture here at CGI is excellent, they promote social events outside of work and well being. CGI exceeded my expectations as an employer and i really enjoy the program i'm on.
I feel very valued by CGI as I constantly receive feedback from managers and colleagues regarding my work, and hard work is always recognized here.
My program is very well organised. An intensive two day induction ensured that every employee was aware of benefits and policies within the organisation. Also, I was required to complete a mixture of online e-learning training courses as well as being trained on the job which i think is a good approach. It is helpful to have a mentor when studying at university and I complete most of my work at work or in university.
I have access to a workplace mentor who can support me and raise any issues i'm having, as well as having direct contact with the university. It is very easy to access support as colleagues, students, mentors and lecturers are only a phone call or email away, which is helpful as questions and queries are answered in a quick and efficient manner. Both the university and workplace are very supportive and I enjoy attending university as this is where i get the most support.
I receive support mainly from my mentor which is based at my workplace. It is helpful to have someone outside of my team at work and outside of university to provide an alternative view and approach to tasks, questions and queries. I can approach my mentor, manager and the Human Resources team with any problems or issues i may be having, and i feel comfortable to do so.
My salary allows me to live comfortably at home with the ability to cover travel and daily costs and still leaves me money to save and accommodate social costs. I work 30 minutes from my home which is very convenient, and my company's office is easily accessible by car, train and bus. The company also accommodates for those who relocate to the area and help with travel to work as there are many benefits included in my package, which is really good.
The company holds many corporate and social events outside of wormk which anyone and everyone can attend. The business encourages social events outside of work through the various schemes.
Yes
CGI is an excellent company with an excellent culture, benefits scheme and there are so many opportunities to progress and develop within the business.
The application process is very user friendly, just make sure that you are yourself when answering application questions and attending interviews. It is very important to be honest when applying for the job as the company want to see the real you. I would recommend applying as there are so many opportunities to progress. I would also recommend gaining some work experience in the industry you would like to work in, or just show that you are passionate about the role you are applying for.
