For my apprenticeship, I move around departments in the business for 3-6 month placements. During these periods, I network and get to know the range of teams around site, as well as learn what they do, to gain an overall appreciation for the many roles the company needs. I get to manage my own work load in each placement and add value to each department.
I have gained an NVQ level 3 in Business Administration and am working towards my level 4. I am also studying part time at University doing a Business Management degree. In the work place, I have developed confidence - especially in my own abilities, presenting, leading and in decision making.
I am grateful for the opportunities I have on my programme. Ranging from furthering my education and gaining real world experience to being part of special occasions such as meeting the Prime Minister and visiting the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street.
I feel very valued by MBDA. They invest a lot of money in me for my own personal development and always push me to believe in myself and do better.
I have strong support from the ECP team to understand what is expected of me and what I should expect from the programme.
I received 100% support in completing my qualifications.
I feel that everyone in MBDA is approachable and there is always somebody I can go to for a support depending on the situation. I have never felt isolated or misunderstood.
My salary covers living but I'd appreciate a bit more disposable income to enjoy and be able to fulfil my work life balance.
I have took part in competitions, open days, networking with other companies, charity events and dinners.
Yes
It is the best decision I have made in my life so far to get an apprenticeship here and it is worth missing out on going away to university. Earning and learning!
Don't be afraid to show your personality, people need someone good to work with, not just someone who's clever. Smile! Don't be intimidated by employees, remember these people are just regular mum's and dad's outside of work so they aren't going to bite you. Take the risk and lead, be confident (or at least pretend, they don't know!).
