I joined Capgemini as a Software Engineer in 2014. Since then I have been promoted 3 times and am now a Scrum Master facilitating a team of 8 developers. Day to day I organize meetings with my team, listen to their progress, escalate any blockers preventing them from working, do all time forecasting for the team and plan future work, training etc
I have learnt a lot of new skills since joining Capgemini. My biggest skills that have been developed would definitely be my public speaking and presenting soft skills. When I joined I was not confident in doing this at all but after being on training and having lots of experience and opportunities I have developed this and got much better.
I love the programme at Capgemini. Since joining I have always been fully supported with a buddy, mentor, reviewer, the GAP team (Graduate and Apprentice Programmes)and by my university lecturers. The university are brilliant in understanding that we are doing a full time job and degree at the same time and give us lots of notice for things and our webinars are recorded so we can watch them later on if we miss them. My favourite thing at Capgemini is the people - everyone is so technically brilliant and really lives capgemini's 7 values
I feel very valued. I have been promoted 3 times in 3 years with a great reviewer who I discuss my career development with. I feel really supported and have access to so many opportunities. More recently Capgemini launched 'Applaud' which is an employee reward scheme where management and colleagues can thank you for work you have completed which equate to vouchers. This all helps in feeling appreciated at Capgemini.
The programme is well organized. I know in advance which modules I am doing on what months for the entire of my degree. I know when my on campus dates are, exams dates, assignment dates etc well ahead of time. When we go to uni we get a full time table in the week before we go so we know what we are doing and which rooms we are in etc. The uni itself is really well run for our scheme with personal tutors who you can go to for extra support.
Quite a lot. At uni my personal tutor is always on hand by email or phone and face to face if I go into the university. If I email her she always responds within an hour and is so helpful. At Capgemini we also have our Graduate Apprentice Programme (GAP) team who we can go to with any issues - they organize our degree and can help out with issues with the university if there ever are any.
We also receive support from work - my line manager is fully involved in my degree and can help support me in aspects where my job role does not align to a degree module - to help me get experience of it and then apply what I am learning at uni. They give us 22 study days a year to do uni inside of working hours - the rest is in our own time.
I believe my salary and package really well meets my costs. The pay and progression scheme at Capgemini is amazing for apprentices as we get reviewed for pay and promotion 4 times a year - 4 times as many as normal employees. I am really happy with my salary and it is considerably more than you would expect for an apprentice
Loads - loads of volunteering options e.g Palace 2 Palace for the Princes Trust - google it!
Yes
Great company with a brilliant culture and brilliant values - so supported and they invest a lot of time and money in you to get you to your best.
When applying 100% be yourself! Do not write your application form in the way of how you think Capgemini want it - write it how you want to, to show your personality and who you are. We want people at Capgemini to be their own personality - not conform to a moulded shape - we need lots of different people with different backgrounds to provide multiple perspectives for our clients.
