My role is to learn from experienced Technical Officers within Network Rails Works Delivery Team and improve my skills as a track engineer whilst improving my leadership skills.
I have learnt lots during my time at Network Rail with everyone willing to share information and I have been able to learn a lot by physically doing certain jobs.
I started the apprenticeship with an open mind and knowing nothing about the railway. This has made me really interested about how certain jobs are carried out and why they are necessary. It has also motivated me to learn more and try to move up the company.
Everyone has been very helpful during my time here making sure I learn the job so I can have a positive effect on the company and the railway infrastructure.
The programme follows a strict format which has allowed past apprentices to move up the company and become very successful.
All trainers are eager to help me in the programme to make sure I get through all the work and bring the best out of me.

The depot that I am in is very easy to get to therefore I don't need to spend a lot of money for travel. The money goes up every year making me more determined to progress into the next year. Once I graduate the money is really good.
The course puts you through the first aid course etc 2which is really good and can be used outside of work.
Yes
Working for network rail allows you to gain a specific set of skills which are specific to the railway making everything you learn very interesting.
Be confident and willing to push yourself and get involved and you can go really far in the company. Don't be put off by the pay at the start of the programme and the long term is really worth the wait.
